A crocodile was today killed by residents of Uda village in Madhupura district after their complaints to forest officials about the presence of the reptile in the Haraili river waters went unheeded.
Forest ranger, Udakishunganj, Chauhan Shashibhushan Sinha said the body of the reptile has been seized and sent for post-mortem.
"Action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report," he said.

Villagers said the crocodile had suddenly appeared in the Haraili river on September 19 and it hampered the use of river water by the inhabitants.
"We informed the forest and wildlife officials about it, but no action was taken. We were afraid even to venture near the river. After spending last four days in fear, some persons from the neighbouring areas attacked the crocodile with spears and sticks and killed it," a villager said.
