Press Trust of India Thane
Residents of Ganeshpuri village in Thane district have demanded action against a ration shop keeper and its owner, alleging unfair practices being followed at the shop in connivance with supplies department officials.

Village sarpanch Shital Sable has submitted a memorandum in this regard, signed by several villagers and panchayat office-bearers, to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

A copy of the memorandum was provided to mediapersons today.

In the memorandum, it has been alleged that officials of the supplies department were hand-in-glove with the shop keeper and shielded him despite a large stock of goods meant for PDS seized in October last year after it was lifted from the shop and was being illegally transported.

The shop was owned by Kusum Subash Burbure, who gave it for management to Sandeep Ramchandra Kirade.

The villagers have alleged that despite several representations, the police and concerned authorities did not take cognisance of their complaint against the shop keeper and its owner.
