Villagers set police vehicle on fire after youth's body found

Angry villagers resorted to stone pelting on a police team and snatched arms from them besides setting a patrol jeep on fire after the body of a missing youth was found today at Ekvari village under Sahaar police station of Bihar's Bhojpur district.

Superintendent of Police Kshatraneel Singh said the deceased has been identified as Sunil Singh alias Prince Kumar (22) who had come to his maternal uncle's house at Ekvari village and was missing since last night.

Singh said villagers recovered the body of the youth from a well this morning and got agitated when they saw a patrolling police jeep and resorted to stone pelting.
 

The villagers snatched a rifle and a carbine from the policemen besides setting the police vehicle on fire, the SP said adding the police were trying to recover the arms.

Two police jawans, who sustained injuries in the stone pelting, have been admitted to a government hospital at Ara and no one has been arrested so far in this regard, Singh said.
