A doctor of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla was caught allegedly treating patients in his house during duty hours.

Director of VIMSAR Prof Aswini Kumar Pujahari said Dr G Satpathy of the Orthopaedic department was found treating patients at his house yesterday during duty hours.

On a tip-off, Pujahari reached the house of Satpathy and found around six patients waiting there.

On seeing the director, the patients left the place, but Pujahari said the scene was video-graphed.

A show cause notice has been issued to the doctor and he has been asked to reply within 48 hours, the director said.

Refuting the charge Dr Satpathy claimed he was not involved private practice and was only providing medical treatment to the needy and poor patients after duty hours.

Earlier on July 9, Pujahari had caught a doctor of the Radio-Diagnosis department working in a private diagnostics centre during duty hours.
