A large number of people offered worship at the famous shrine of Manakula Vinayakar here on the occasion.

People made a beeline to the temples from early morning to pray to the presiding deity. Clay models of the Lord Vigneshwara were selling like hot cakes and celebration of the festival at home was also at its peak.

One could see rural artisans pitching camps on pavements and at important centres to sell the idols from early morning. Police were deployed to regulate the crowd at some of the busy thoroughfares.
