M Vinayakumar took charge as Director (Refinery) of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited here.
He was posted by the appointments committee of the Union Cabinet, a release from MRPL here said.
The post fell vacant with the elevation of M Venkatesh as the managing director of MRPL last year.
Vinayakumar, who took charge as Director (Refinery) on Thursday, graduated as a mechanical engineer from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in the year 1982 and subsequently completed his diploma in management.
He began his career in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in 1982.
Later, he joined MRPL as manager (project) in 1993.
He handled various responsibilities in different departments including projects, engineering and technical services over the years and became group general manager (in charge-Refinery), before being appointed as director.
He is also a director in ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited and Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels and Services Limited.
