Vince Vaughan has revealed that he had encouraged actor-director Mel Gibson to join the cast of "Dragged Across Concrete".

The 48-year-old actor has earlier worked with Gibson on his 2016 directorial "Hacksaw Ridge".

Vaughan said he had a word with Gibson about the S Craig Zahler's film to which the veteran actor gave a positive reply.

"I had worked with Mel on 'Hacksaw' and had overlapped doing 'Brawl [in Cell Block 99'] with Zahler. He came and talked about this other movie, and Mel was the name that he recommended for the character of Ridgeman.

"They sent it to Mel, and I mentioned it to him. Thankfully Mel really responded to it. He's such a terrific filmmaker, and I think Zahler is such a terrific filmmaker."

"Dragged Across Concrete", a crime thriller, follows two officers (Vaughan and Gibson), who get suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics gets wide attention. They then descend into the criminal underworld to exact vengeance.
