Vintage Car Rally in Delhi on Feb 7

The sixth edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally will be held on February 7.

The rally, with the theme of 'Save the Girl Child', will enthral residents of Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon, Madan Mohan, Managing Director (MD) of 21 Gun Salute, the organiser of the mega event, said here today.

As many as 125 vintage automobiles will hit the roads of Gurgaon, Delhi and Noida starting from January 31 this year to promote motor tourism in the country.

"This year the rally will be organised on a much larger scale, with 125 hand-picked vintage and classic cars rolling down the streets," Mohan said.
 

The main rally will be flagged off from the historic Red Fort in Delhi onFebruary 7 and culminate at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, followed by ceremonial drive and category races in six segments.

Besides vintage and classic cars collection from across the country, 10 entries have come from England, France and Germany and the event will showcase rare cars dating from 1886 to 1965.

One of the precious automobile on display would be first car invented by Karl Friedrich Benz, pioneer founder of Mercedes Benz along side with Henry Ford's 1896 Quadricycle.

"There will a curtain raiser to the Sixth edition on January 31 with 35 classic cars including Jaguar XK 120, Pontiac Convertible, Rolls Royce Boat Tail Convertible, Jaguar Mark 5, Austin Princess and 1939 Mercedes Benz parading in Gurgaon," Mohan said.
