Taking cognizance of a written complaint made, the MHRC has directed the DGP to order an inquiry to be made by an officer not less than the rank of a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and to submit the report within 30 days of receipt of the notice, the Commission's secretary Aldous Mawlong said.
The complainants - Obinest Rodborne of Domskong village and Pynskhemlang Rodborne of Lyngkhon village, both under Mawsynram block in East Khasi Hills district had alleged the police personnel committed high handedness while taking them into custody about two weeks ago, he said.
