Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said vandalism of statues has no place in the country.

"Tolerance is the hall mark of a mature democracy. Violence as seen in Tripura has no space in our country," Patnaik said in a twitter post reacting to the pulling down of two statues of communist icon Lenin in Tripura.

The two statues of Lenin were pulled down at Belonia and Sabroom in South Tripura district.

The incidents took place days after the declaration of the Assembly poll result in Tripura, where BJP and its ally the IPFT have won two-third majority against the CPI(M) led Left Front which had been in power for 25 years.
