The Vishva Hindu Parishad on Friday said "violence under the cover" of agitation against the new citizenship law is becoming "unbearable" and demanded that protests, including the one going on at Shaheen Bagh here, must be stopped.

At a press conference, VHP secretary general Milind Parande cited the attack on the participant of a pro-Citizenship Amendment Act rally in Lohardaga in Jharkhand and alleged that the change of government in the state has resulted in people with "jihadi mindset" turning aggressive against Hindus.

Protesters at Shaheen Bagh have blocked road causing inconvenience to people, he said.

"These activities must be stopped forthwith," he said, claiming that anti-CAA protestors were misguided by vested interests who are also raising "anti-national and anti-Hindu slogans".
