Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is the latest entrant to the VIP security club as he has been accorded a 'Z' category cover by the armed commandos of paramilitary CISF.
The Minister of State for Home will be secured by a special squad of about 20 specially trained commandos whenever he travels in the national capital region.
Sources said the junior Home Minister was brought under the security umbrella of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after a threat analysis report from central security agencies recommended armed protection for him.

Plans are also afoot, sources said, to secure the Minister during his visits to Arunachal Pradesh, from where he was elected to Lok Sabha, by the same squad or through a contingent of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) already based in the north eastern state.
"No decision, however, has been taken on the security cover for the Minister outside Delhi," the sources said.
The Centre has also upgraded the security cover of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval from 'Z' to the top category of 'Z+' entailing over 35 commandos of the CISF.
The Centre has also changed the security deployment of Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modavadia, taking it away from the CISF to another paramilitary CRPF, under the 'X' category cover which entails four-five armed commandos.
The central government, through the Union Home Ministry, recently brought BJP President Amit Shah under 'Z+' category security of paramilitary force CRPF.
