Virbhadra announces one promotion for HP police handball team

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced one promotion to all the members of the state police handball team which won brone medal at the 61st All India Police Sports Meet organised at Dharamsala.

Presiding over the closing function of the sports meet, he also announced Rs 50 lakh for up-gradation of Dharamshala Police stadium.

The government plans to double the cash prize for outstanding players whereas award money under Parshuram Award Scheme has already been enhanced from 50,000 to Rs One lakh, the CM said.

The state government would provide more facilities to the sportspersons of the state police besides increasing their promotional avenues, he said.
 

Virbhadra said Himachali players had also won laurels for the state and country by winning medals in the Olympics.

He congratulated shooter Vijay Kumar for his outstanding performance in Olympics and said the state government recently honoured Arjun awardee athlete Suman Rawat and international Kabaddi player Priyanka Negi.

Surender of Central Industrial Security Force was given the award of Best sportsperson at the meet.
