Facing a volley of corruption charges levelled by the BJP, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today shifted the scheduled January 6 Cabinet meeting from Dharamshala to Shimla and preponed it to January 4.

Singh, who is on winter sojourn to the lower areas of the state would reach here tomorrow and the Cabinet meeting would be held in the evening at around 5pm.

Meanwhile, former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar requested Virbhadra not to quit on moral grounds to facilitate a fair and impartial probe.

"Since the charges have come in full public domain, propriety demands that he should resign on moral grounds and hold no position till he was exonerated," he added.

The state BJP has also announced to hold rallies and demonstrations at all the district headquarters starting tomorrow to January 10 in support of their demand of Virbhadra Singh's dismissal and a CBI probe into the chargesheet submitted by it against the government.

Leader of the opposition in Himachal Assembly, PK Dhumal and state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti would lead the protest at Hamirpur and Shimla respectively tomorrow, Shanta Kumar would lead the protest at Dharamsala on January 7, BJYM president Anurag Thakur at Una on January 9 and other state leaders at other places, party sources said.
