Virbhadra Singh announces Rs 20 lakh each for Sukma martyrs

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced an ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh each to the kin of two soldiers martyred in the Sukma naxal attack who belonged to the state.

The amount from the chief minister's Sainik Welfare Fund will be given to the next of kin of Sanjay Kumar of Chachian (Palampur) and Surender Kumar of Ner Chowk (Mandi), an official release said.

The soldiers belonged to the CRPF 74 Battalion.

At least 25 CRPF personnel were killed and six wounded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Monday, the deadliest attack by Naxals targeting security forces this year.
