Slamming BJP over construction of Ram temple, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that party used it as a "ploy" to win 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
"The construction of ram temple at Ayodhya was just a ploy and propaganda to win elections and the party has failed to make any progress in this direction during past 22 years" he said while addressing a public meeting at Jhanduta in Bilaspur district.
He said chanting "jai shree Ram" doesn't make one a "true devotee" as gods and goddesses are not a "personal property" of an individual.
"Lord Rama belonged to all and was not a patent ofBJP and you don't become a true devotee simply by chanting "jai shri Ram."
Accusing BJP of dividing people in the name of god, he said that the state will not fall for BJP's "evil designs."
"The people of the state are well aware of their evil designs and fully know that gods and goddesses are not the personal property of an individual and worshipped by all," he said.
Denouncing the politics over construction of Baagchaal Bridge, the repair of which had been hanging for many years, Chief Minister said that the government would take appropriate measures for reconstruction of the Bridge as its cost had already increased to Rs 20-crore due to inordinate delay.
Speaking at the event, he also announced Industrial Training Institute at Gehrwin and a Police Station at Jhanduta, a bridge at Ree-Radoh in GP Badgaon and also announced a new building of SDM office at Jhanduta would soon be constructed in near future.
He said that Himachal was adjudged best amongst the hill states in term of development, especially in the field of education.
Morethan 15,500 government schools and 116 colleges were functioning in the state, out of which 42 colleges were opened by the present government in far-flung areas, he added.
