Premier British carrier Virgin Atlantic today launched special offers to attract students flying abroad for further studies, including discounted fares for parents wishing to accompany their children.

Under the offer, students would be entitled to a special baggage allowance of three free checked-in bags of 23 kg each in economy and four in premium economy, a Virgin statement said.

In addition, they would get a special ten per cent discount on every ticket booked in premium economy, apart from one free of charge date change, as their travel plans could change at the last moment.

These offers would be open for tickets purchased on or before July 31 with travel period open till October 31.

The airline is also offering a 50 per cent off on the base fare of their second premium economy ticket when both parents book their flight with Virgin, the statement said.

Virgin Atlantic India General Manager Stephen King said, "being a student-preferred airline, we understand how it feels to say 'Goodbye'. With these offers especially the 'Buy Mom's ticket and get Dad's at half price' offer, we hope to give that sense of security to students as well as their parents."

Virgin's competitor British Airways and some other carriers are also offering similar discounts for students.
