Visa on Arrival at Thiruvananthapuram airport soon

Air India and AI Express flights that were cancelled owing to pilot shortage would be restored as soon as the pilot shortage problem was addressed, he said after a meeting to discuss development issues connected with the Airport.

"We have prepared an action plan to address the pliot scarcity within four months," Venugopal said.

The meeting decided to install one more aerobridge in ten months and introduce in-line baggage handling system at the international terminal by June.

The meeting also decided to prepare a concept for developing the terminal as a multi-modal hub with rail, water and road connectivity.

The new radar system for the Thiruvananthapuram airport would be commissioned by April. Issues pertaining to cargo clearance was taken up with the customs authorities, he added.

 

Air India Express maintenance, overhaul and repair facility would be fully operational by February once the DGCA's final clearance was received.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other senior state officials and Airports Authority of India representatives attended the meeting.
