Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Awards announced

: Three litterateurs have been chosen for the prestigious Vimala Pai Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Awards, World Konkani Centre said here today.

Konkani writer Edwin J F D'Souza from the city has been chosen for the best Konkani Sahitya Puraskar award for his work 'Kallem Bhangaar'.

Renowned Konkani poet Sanjiv Verenkar from Goa has been chosen for the best Konkani Kavitha Krithi Puraskar (poetry award) for his 'Aswasth Surya', a Centre release said.

Editor of Raknno Konkani Weekly Fr Mark Waldar would be honoured with the Jeevan Siddhi Puraskar (Life time achievement award), the statement said.

The awards are conferred to eminent persons to recognise contributions to the Konkani language and literature.
 

The awards which carry a cash prize of Rupees one lakh each, a shawl and a memento instituted by Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation would be presented on November 6, the release said.
