Visit Science Express at CSMT till July 22

Mumbaikars can now visit the specially-designed Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) here till July 22.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today inaugurated the innovative mobile science exhibition through video conferencing from the national capital.

Maharashtra transport minister Divakar Raote, General manager of Central Railway D K Sharma along with other senior officials were present at CSMT.

Sharma told reporters that the Limca Book of Records has taken note of the unique train.

"This is the longest running and the most visited mobile science exhibition," the officer claimed.

In its next round of destinations is the Nashik Road station in northern Maharashtra.
 

"Coach one has theme on understanding the climate, coach two on impact of climate change, coach three and four on adaptation, coach five and six on mitigation," informed Sharma.

"Coach seven has the theme on international negotiations for climate change, coach eight about positive actions and coach 12 is for the children aged between 5 to 10 years," he added.

According to the officer, the science train aims to create awareness among various sections of the society as to how climate change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation.

Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO of CR said at the end of the first day, the train received an overwhelming response.

"Science Express got tremendous response on day one as 19,033 persons including 5,807 students visited it," Udasi added.
