Private carrier Vistara today forayed in North-east skies with the launch of a daily flight service to Guwahati and Bagdogra from the national capital.

As of now, the Tata-SIA joint venture full service airline had been operating from five domestic airports, all high-traffic density ones, including its hub Delhi.

"We are very happy to expand our operations to both Guhawati and Bagdogra and we feel that improved travel prospects will provide these cities with the rightful visibility they deserve," Vistara Chief Executive Phee Teik Yeoh said.

This new route marks Vistara's foray into the Eastern and North Eastern sectors, the airline said, adding Guwahati is the gateway to the northeast besides being the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Assam and serves as the starting point for most northeastern itineraries.

As part of its focused expansion plan, Vistara will soon add more destinations and exciting enhancements to its product and service offerings.

The airline has already announced commencement of its flight services to Pune route from April 9.

Vistara now flies to seven destinations- Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bagdogra with a fleet of five Airbus A320s.
