Vivekananda College teachers to boycott classes

The teachers of Vivekananda College here today decided to boycott classes indefinitely alleging that one of the teachers was threatened by the students' union.

The decision to boycott classes was taken at a meeting of the teachers faculty, a teacher said.

Philosophy teacher Sarthika Poddar had yesterday found a boy and a girl of the college in a compromising position in an empty class room and scolded them and told the other teachers about the incident.

Yesterday a first year student of the college lodged a police complaint alleging that the teacher (Sarthika Poddar) had slapped him.

The student also lodged a complaint with the students' union against the teacher.
 

Poddar today informed the other teachers alleging that some members of the students union threatened her and her son with dire consequences over the matter.

The teachers faculty at a meeting today decided to boycott classes alleging that the students' union was threatening the teacher.
