A man today axed his neighbour to death while he in turn was killed by the latter's brother in a grisly incident in Lacheru area of Dumriguda mandal in the district today.
Suspecting his neighbour of having illicit relationship with his wife, K Karanna hacked 45-year-old T Bojanna to death.
Whereupon Bojanna's brother T Subba Rao beat Karanna to death, police said.
According to the police, after finding his neighbour Bojannna at his house in his absence, Karanna (40) got into an argument with the latter. He accused Bojanna of having illicit relationship with his wife.
In the fight which ensued, Karanna picked up an axe and murdered Bojanna.
In retaliation, Bojanna's brother Subba Rao beat him to death.
Subba Rao was arrested immediately.
Inspector Pyla Simhachalam Naidu of Araku police station said Karanna had also attacked another neighbour, T Bhimanna, with an axe over a land dispute on Friday night. Bhimanna had to be hospitalised, now his condition is stable.
