Vodafone invests Rs 480 cr to enhance network in UP East

Telecom operator Vodafone today said that it invested Rs 480 crore in the last fiscal to enhance its network coverage in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

With this the company has added over 800 new 3G sites across UP East which brought more than 4.5 crore residents across multiple regions under its 3G coverage, Vodafone said in a statement.

The company now has over 12,200 sites for 3G and 2G services in UP East covering over close to 97 per cent of the circle's population, it said.

Vodafone said that data or internet business of the company is growing at 90 per cent year-on-year basis and total data users are now at 50 per cent of enabled handset base in the circle.
 

"Data revenues contribute to 35 per cent of incremental service revenue," it said.

Vodafone now has more than 2.25 lakh retail outlets in the circle. The company claims to have 28 per cent market share in terms of revenue.
