Vodafone India today said it has invested Rs 500 crore to upgrade its network in Mumbai and will be rolling out 4G services in the financial capital by December this year.

The company has invested Rs 500 crore to modernise and upgrade existing network and rolled out 1,000 sites in the last six months, Vodafone said in a statement.

"We are excited to launch our new 4G services in the superior 1800 MHz band for our customers in Mumbai," Vodafone India Business Head - Mumbai, Ishmeet Singh said, adding that the company has the necessary expertise to do so.

Vodafone has partnered with technology infrastructure service providers for network roll-out of the 4G services and testing for it has already started.

"To strengthen this position, Vodafone is investing heavily in high capacity fibre/backhaul to significantly increase Internet connectivity, which will benefit all its data subscribers," Vodafone said in a statement.

The company said that it remains committed towards making necessary investments in network expansion and modernisation for enhancing overall customer experience.

Mumbai, with around 30 per cent of data revenues in the country, is one of the top markets for Vodafone in India, it added.
