Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, today
launched the All India Flag Week of the Deaf and contributed Rs 10,000 to the Flag Fund.
Interacting with a 15-member delegation comprising members of the Governing Body, Principal, Teachers and students of the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra at Raj Bhavan here, Vohra called upon people to contribute in the Fund for the welfare of the physically challenged children.
"Rs two lakh will be given annually to the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu for next three years for supporting its educational activities," Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) said.
He also emphasised the need for availing optimum benefit from the various Central Schemes for the welfare of the physically challenged.
Vohra also asked his Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the SMVDSB Navin K Choudhary to arrange a visit of the children of the Kendra, along with their teachers, to the shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi on the Board's expenses, after their annual exams are over. _____________________

Jammu: Prof Sudhir K Jain today took the command of the Vice-chancellorship of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) situated in the ourtskirts of Katra, the base camp of Cave shrine.
Prof Jain took charge of VC from Principal Secretary to Governor, Navin K Choudhary, who was officiating as VC of University during past over month after the completion of the period of Prof RNK Bamezai, who returned back to JawaharLal Nehru University.
Jain also called on the J&K Governor and Chancellor of SMVDU, N N Vohra and discussed various matters relating to the University with him.
Vohra urged the new VC for early resolution of the matters to ensure that this institution gains national and international recognition.

Jammu: In a bid to come to help of poor cancer patients, the State government today directed for regular deductions in the salaries of gazetted and non-gazetted employees as contribution towards the Cancer Treatment and Management Fun for Poor.
"All the administrative secretaries have been asked to ensure that the drawing and disbursing officers make regular deduction of Rs 20 and Rs 10 per month respectively from gazetted and non-gazetted employees, as contribution towards the Cancer Treatment and Management Fund for Poor," a circular issued by the government here read out.
"In the event of default in deduction in earlier months and also in the case, there is no objection from the employees, the same should now be deducted Rs 240 and Rs 120 or the outstanding due amount, as the case may be, to account for the balance contribution in one go, from the salary for the month of February, 2013 as large amounts are required for the treatment of poor cancer patients," it said.
