Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today greeted the people on Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, hoping the auspicious occasion would usher in harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
In a message, the Governor said "Islam teaches us values of brotherhood, simplicity, compassion and morality which need to be vigorously inculcated in today's trouble-torn world."
He prayed for well-being and happiness of people of the state.

The Chief Minister said "the birthday of Holy Prophet Mohammad provides us opportunity to pray and seek forgiveness and blessings from the Almighty for the entire mankind."
"Let the day be harbinger of peace and development for the state and the country," he said.
