Voluntary labour by villagers for road construction in Maoist

Deprived of a motorable road, a political party with the help of villagers took up construction of one in Maoist-affected Manatu block in Palamau district today.

Led by the Chief of Jharkhand Sangharsh Morcha, Shashibhusan Mehta and General Secretary Onkarnath Jaiswal, around 1500 villagers from ten Maoist-hit villages in the block took up voluntary labour for the construction of a road between Chak and Manatu under the Manatu police station.

Circle Officer-cum-Block Development Officer Akhilesh Kumar who was present assured assistance in the road construction which would connect adjoining Chatra district, and recommend to the government to take the initiative to build it on a priority basis.
 

The construction of a road by the government remained affected because of Maoist activities for a long period.
