Voter killed in a clash with central forces in Assam

An 80-year-old voter was killed and three others, including two CRPF personnel, were injured in a clash between the central force and voters in Sorbhog contituency in Barpeta district today.

The situation turned disruptive at Safarkamar polling station when CRPF men asked voters to stand in line properly leading to arguments and jostling, district election officials said.

In the scuffle, voter Abdul Rashid, 80, another voter Motleb Ali as well as CRPF Assistant Commandant Naval Kishore and constable Amarjeet were injured, they said.

All the four were rushed to the Barpeta Medical College Hospital where Abdul Rashid was declared dead. Both the CRPF men were admitted to the hsopital, while Motleb Ali was discharged after primary treatment.
 

The situation was soon brought under control and voting continued normally, they added.
