Voters should hold leaders accountable: Marathi actor Juvekar

Noted Marathi actor Santosh Juvekar here today asked citizens to hold accountable the elected representatives who fail to fulfil their electoral promises and deliver work.

Addressing a gathering at the 'National Voters Day' programme, Juvekar said that voters should use their rights to franchise and must always question people's representatives for their work.

In the recent times, awareness among voters has improved but what is needed that voters should be forthcoming in questioning the leaders the choose, he added.

Another speaker, actor-director Ashok Samel said that elections should not be taken lightly and voters must elect the right representative.

On the occasion, students from three colleges of Thane staged a street play on the subject election and importance of voting.
 

In neighbouring Palghar district, a rally was held to mark the day, flagged off by district collector Abhijit Bhangar.
