VP says he prefers traditional attire to 'Bandh gala' suit

: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today said that he prefers his traditional attire to the 'Bandh Gala' suit.

After his elevation as Vice President, Naidu said he was asked by some if he should not be wearing 'Bandh Gala' suit since he was holding a constitutional post.

"I said no change of dress, only change of address', Naidu, who wears the traditional dhoti, said speaking at the 24th Sree Chithira Thirunal memorial lecture.

"We should be proud of our tradition. Whatever position you occupy, show respect to tradition", he said adding India has a great tradition which has survived for thousands of years.
 

Referring to the remark by Congress leader Ramesh chennithala at a function here about his simple attire, Naidu said "..you will not get recognition simply by your dress. But you will get recognition by your address and by what you have done.
