VSSC pays tributes to Kalam

Led by its Director K Sivan, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre here paid glowing tributes to former president Dr Abdul Kalam, who was closely associated with its rocket programmes early in his career, on his first death anniversary today.

At a function held at the VSSC, the Director and senior Space scientists interacted with the students of VSSC Central School and enthused the students with the inspiring thoughts of the late scientist.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sivan said a great patriot, visionary scientist and a thinker, Kalam would continue to remain an inspiring personality in the days to come.
 

"Dr Kalam will be remembered for his passion for science and innovation and his untiring efforts to ignite the young minds of India," he said.

Kalam was the Project Director of SLV3 launch vehicle from which all the later rockets of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) evolved.
