The government today said it is awaiting the report of UP government before deciding on action against an NGO accused of financial irregularities in providing aids to physically challenged people in 17 districts of the state.
Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, which was apparently in reference to accusations levelled at Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust run by External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, Minister of State for Social justice and Empowerment P Balram Naik said the ministry is waiting for the UP government report before taking a final view on the matter.
MP Gundu Sudharani had asked whether it is a fact that there has been numerous complaints, including indictment by CAG, against an NGO receiving grants from several ministries towards the welfare of the disabled people in 17 UP districts.
"There are reports of allegations of irregularities regarding grants being released from this ministry to the trust," Naik said.
