Walavalkar extends lead in Round 5 of Volkswagen Polo R Cup

Race 2 was won by Rahil Noorani after race winner, Akhil Khushlani, was handed a 20 seconds penalty for a jump start.

Race 1 saw Ameya Walavalkar complete in a total time of 20:28.528.

Avdumber Hede finished 7.779 seconds behind the leader while third-place finisher Saurav Bandyopadhay crossed the line 10.045 seconds behind Avdumber. Diego Duez and Rahil Noorani finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.

In Race 1, Ameya got his best start of the season to lead into the first corner ahead of Avdumber. Saurav followed them in third place and managed to pull a gap ahead of Mexican driver Diego Duez.

 

The race finished in this formation with Ameya taking yet another victory. It was made special with a host of guest drivers making a one-off appearance this round.

Reigning Volkswagen Polo R Cup Champion Vishnu Prasad finished seventh ahead of Akhil Khushlani in eighth. Former GP2 and A1GP driver Armaan Ebrahim was forced to retire due to damage to the car.

Race 2 saw Rahil Noorani complete in a total time of 20:31.102. Ameya Walavalkar finished 8.294 seconds behind the leader while third place finisher Vishnu Prasad finished 1.400 seconds behind Ameya. Prashanth Tharani Singh and A. Sandeep Kumar finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.
