Undertaking an extensive review of construction and developmental works, Health Minister A K Walia also announced that construction of a 225-bed hospital at Chhattarpur and 200-bed hospital at Jwalapuri would be initiated as soon as change of land use is approved by DDA.
At the meeting, Walia said the outdoor patient services in the newly constructed 200-bedded Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, Kokiwala Bagh, Ashoka Vihar will start from January 30 providing much needed health care facilities to the residents of North and Central Delhi.
"It is a general hospital and will become fully functional by June this year. However, initially OPD facilities are being provided from this month end to begin with," Walia said.
Construction work of 200 bed hospital at Burari will also be initiated by the month end and the hospital will be constructed at a cost of Rs.182 crores, out of which 95 crores have been earmarked for civil works, he said.
Noting that the process of change of land use in respect of 225 bed hospital at Chhattarpur and 200 bed hospital at Jwalapuri has been initiated, he said the construction of these hospitals will start as soon as the change in land use is allowed.
He directed DSIIDC officials to carry on works pertaining to 200 bed hospital at Vikaspuri and asked PWD officials to expeditiously co-ordinate with other civic agencies and take up the construction of 200 bed hospitals at Siraspur and 100 bedded hospital at Sarita Vihar.
He expressed hope that with the appointment of Directors for full operationalisation of 300 bed Super-specialty Hospital at Janakpuri and 650 bed Rajiv Gandhi Super-specialty Hospital at Tahirpur will shortly be effected.
At the meeting, he also said the Government has taken up construction of new building for Deen Dayal Upadhaya College in Dwarka at a projected cost of Rs 151 crores.
The college affiliated to Delhi University with a strength of 2200 students is being presently run in a school building at Karampura.
He also directed MCD to expedite the clearance of layout plans of 200 bedded hospital at Madipur at the earliest.
He also expressed concern over poor maintenance of some of ITIs and Polytechnics particularly the old ones and directed the PWD officials to take up their upkeep and maintenance on priority basis.
