Walkathon organised to mark World Population Day

The walkathon was organised by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Jansankhya Sthirta Kosh, an autonomous society which aims to bring the need for population stabilisation into focus.

MP Naveen Jindal and Planning Commission member Syeda Hameed flagged off the walkathon at the India Gate in presence of Keshav Desiraju, Additional Secretary in Health Ministry.

Speaking on the relevance of population issues, Jindal said, "There is an urgent need for collective action for the improved reproductive health of the people of India.

"The aim of this walkathon is to raise awareness and address reproductive health issues including the need for healthy mothers and planned families to achieve population stabilisation," he said.
