: CPI has urged the Centre to post a regular Lt Governor for the Union Territory of Puducherry as want of a full fledged incumbent to the gubernatorial post since 2014 has been dislocating routine administrative work.

A resolution adopted at the meeting of the state CPI council yesterday pointed out that the Lt Governor in a UT was the administrative head as laid down in the Constitution.

Puducherry is now being looked after under additional charge by the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar islands for want of a regular incumbent since July 17, 2014.

The resolution allged that the AINRC government has also been keeping quiet without projecting before the Centre the need for a regular Lt Governor.

It urged the Centre not to delay the matter any further and to post a full fledged Lt Governor for Puducherry.

Among those who addressed the participants were National CPI committee's Secretary Dr K Narayana, Secretary of Puducherry unit of the party R Viswanathan.

Another resolution charged the Rangasamy led government with having failed to implement the promises held out to the people during the 2011 Assembly polls.

But with the assembly polls due to be held soon, the CM was hastily distributing mixies, grinders and also disbursing rain relief to the people keeping the polls in mind.

CPI in another resolutionvowed to defeat DMK, AIADMK, Congress, BJP and also PMK in the polls with people's support to ensure that an alternative dispensation was established.
