The 27-year-old, who will include her split with husband Russell Brand in the film "Katy Perry: Part of Me", said she wants people to take motivation from their problems, reported Access Hollywood.
"I didn't get too detailed about the specifics because I believe that that's only supposed to be between the two people that are in it. I just wanted to encourage people to let them know that it's okay if they have problems. It's okay if they're going through a situation, they don't have to lay down and die," Perry said.
The 'Fireworks' hitmaker split from Brand after 14 months of marriage.
"When I decide to do something, I do it wholeheartedly. That's what I strive to be, is connect with the truth, with everything I do especially artistically and creatively. And if it's an extension of my music, which this film is an extension of my music, because it's all about how I got here and how I wanted people to hear my songs. I do it honestly," she added.
"Katy Perry: Part of Me" hits theaters on July 5.
