A a notorious burglar, wanted in several house break-in cases in Andhra Pradesh, was today arrested in Rajahmundry and 605 grams of gold ornaments were recovered from him, police said.
The city police today arrested Kosaraju Narasimha Rao (42) in connection with 48 cases of house break-ins in Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts. His wife Yendeti Ganga, who also took part in the offences, had already been arrested in January.
Police have recovered 605 gms gold ornaments and one car from Rao and attempts are on to recover over one kg gold from the couple.

DCP (Crimes) T Ravi Kumar Murthy said that Narasimha Rao, a school dropout, is a native of Eluru in West Godavari district.
"Rao had come to Vizag in 2002 in search of a livelihood and worked at a club. A few years later, Rao married Ganga and they started indulging in house break-ins. They were also involved in trafficking of women. After they came under police scanner, the couple moved to Kakinada and committed 48 house-breaks during 2014 and 2016 in Vizag Vizianagaram and East Godavari districts," the officer said.
Explaining the modus of operandi, the DCP said that the couple used to first conduct a recce of the houses that are locked and in the night they would break open the locks using mini crowbars and decamp with the stolen booty.
The couple, with the help of some others, collectively stole 3,370 gms gold and some cash in all the 48 offences, police said.
"We had arrested Ganga in January this year and recovered 500 gms gold. Now, Rao was arrested in Rajahmundry and we have recovered 605 gms gold jewellery. We are trying to recover the remaining stolen property from the couple," the DCP said.
