A man, wanted in connection with several cases, has been lynched by a mob at a village in Bihar's Araria district, a police officer said today.

The incident took place at Madra village late last night when a mob mercilessly beat up the hardcore criminal to death and caught another man after a villager raised an alarm following the entry of seven criminals into his house for robbery, Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar said.

The slain criminal was identified as Rajendra Yadav, hailing from neighbouring Kishanganj district who was wanted in connection with several cases lodged against him in his native district, he said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, Kumar said.

The villagers overpowered another criminal with two live bombs and handed him over to the police, the SP said.
