Wanted Maoist arrested in Gumla

A Maoist wanted in connection with the killing of five policemen, was arrested from a place near Rukhi Ghati in Gumla district, police said today.

Bhaiya Ram alias Bipin was arrested when he came to meet someone near Rukhi Ghati yesterday, Superintendent of Police Bhimsen Tuti told reporters.

A 9 mm pistol was seized from him.

He is wanted in a case relating to the gunning down of five policemen and attack on Chenpur police station a few years ago, Tuti said.

On interrogation, the rebel revealed that he had joined the CPI (Maoist) three/four years ago to avenge the killing of his brother by a criminal outfit, he added.
