Ward committee member shot dead

A 25-year-old ward committee member of the local civic body was shot dead by unidentified persons at a weekly market in Dalbhumgarh under Maoist-hit Ghatsila sub-division today.

Motai Bodra was shot dead by unidentified persons at the weekly market, Officer-in-charge of Dalbhumgarh police station in Jharkhand, Rajendra Prasad Mahato said.

Mahato said Bodra, who reportedly received four bullet shot wounds, was declared brought dead at hospital.

Asked whether it was the handiwork of any naxal outfit, the Superintendent of Police (rural) Shailendra Kumar Sinha said it was not yet confirmed.

The victim was resident of Ramatandi in the sub-divison.
