Three persons including a businessman and a ward councillor were shot dead by bike borne gunmen in Bihar's East Champaran and Bhojpur districts on Monday, police said.

Siyaram Prasad Kushwaha, a ward councillor of Kadamwa panchayat, and Shambhu Rai, who was riding pillion with Kushwaha, were killed when after they came out of an office of the Ghorasahan block, East Champaran Superintendent of Police Umesh Kumar Sharma said.

The victims, both 50-years-old, were taken to Motihari Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival, the SP said.

Prima facie, it seems that the murders could be the fallout of an old enmity, Sharma said adding that the culprits have been identified and would be arrested soon.

In the other incident in Bhojpur district, three bike borne assailants gunned down a 32-year-old jewellery shop owner near Piparahiya rail bridge under Mufassil police station.

They shot Dhananjay Kumar Soni in the head killing him on the spot, Superintendent of Police Aditya Kumar said.

The incident occurred when Soni was on his way on motorbike to his jewellery shop located at Akhgaon bazaar under Sandesh police station of the district.
