Former North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) mayor Meera Agrawal today proposed giving some concessions to children of corporation employees in admission to the medical college set up by the civic body at Hindu Rao Hospital.

Putting forth the proposal, Agrawal said, "Those children of corporation employees who pass the entrance exam of the institute should be given a concession of 2-3 per cent as compared to others...All private colleges have management quota, IP university takes into account the fact that a student in from Delhi. We should also look into this matter."

Once the admissions to its MBBS programme gets a go ahead from the Medical Council of India, the corporation will become the third civic body in the country to run a medical college.

Agrawal said she will forward the proposal to the commissioner's office so that it can be looked into.

The MBBS program will have 50 seats and will be affiliated to Indraprastha University.

In another development, the north corporation today passed a resolution calling on the union government to stop any action against unauthorised construction after 2007.

"The order of the urban development ministry in 2011 stopped any action against unauthorised constructions till 2014...The same should be extended to all properties that came into existence till June 30, 2013," the resolution stated.

The House also passed the simplified trade licence policy, under which trade licence fee will increase by 10 per cent every three years automatically to factor in inflation.

In order to eliminate complex documentation, the north corporation has decided to do away with the requirement of sanctioned building plan and occupancy certificate, landlord NOC and property tax payment slip while applying for the licence. Structural safety certificate, pollution NOC and fire safety certificate will be required in specific cases only.
