A court in Mumbai issued a
non-bailable warrant Monday against alleged fake encounter victim Tulsiram Prajapati's mother for failing to appear before it to record her testimony.
Narmada Bai, Prajapati's mother, failed to appear before the court for a fourth time Monday, following which Special CBI judge S J Sharma issued the warrant.
Bailable warrants were issued against A S Shukla,
J R Desai and O B Sharma of Gujarat Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as they too failed to appear before the court. They, however, missed the court date for the first time.
These officials were part of the investigation team before the fake encounter case was taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The CBI court is conducting trial in the cases related to the alleged fake encounter of suspected gangster Sohrabuddin Shaikh and his aide Prajapati, and the killing of Shaikh's wife Kausar Bi.
Shaikh and his wife were allegedly abducted by the Gujarat Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad in November 2005 and later killed.
