A local court today issued non- bailable warrant (NBW) against veteran Telugu actress Jeevitha in connection with a cheque bounce case.

The court directed the Jubilee Hills police to produce her before it on or before October 29.

Based on a private complaint filed by a retired official of Sales Tax Department, C Parandhama Reddy, the court earlier had issued notices/summons to the actress seeking her appearance before it on September 20, though she did not appear. The court had then posted the matter for today.

However, she again did not appear and filed a plea through her counsel stating that she will be out of station. The court, however, did not consider the plea and issued the NBW, the petitioner's (Reddy's) counsel J K Siddhartha said.

Jeevitha, according to the counsel, had approached his client in December 2012 for a loan of Rs 35 lakh and she was paid Rs 34 lakh by Reddy. She also gave promissory notes, two cheques with an undertaking to Reddy that the amount will be returned in three months, he said.

The petitioner alleged that the cheques got bounced and she did not return the amount to Reddy, after which he filed a complaint in the court in June 2013, Siddhartha added.

Jeevitha is wife of film actor Rajasekhar.
