Water bills arrears of Maha districts shoot up to Rs 3273 cr

"The total arrears are Rs 3,273 crore which includes water bills, maintenance work, bulk water supply and repayment of loans for different water projects," the minister said, adding he would soon meet Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to discuss the issue.

He said districts like Nagpur (Rs 194 crore), Latur (Rs 186 crore), Dhule (Rs 175 crore), Jalna (Rs 101 crore), Parbhani (Rs 65 crore), Kolhapur (Rs 95 crore), Buldhana (Rs 80 crore), Ahmednagar (Rs 234 crore), Akola (Rs Rs 359 crore) and Ulhasnagar, a town in Thane district with Rs 63 crore are among those who have run up into large arrears.

 

Meanwhile, he informed that Marathwada region has received scanty rainfall and the state has arranged to supply water to the people through tankers.
