Water conservation proj in dry Osmanabad completed

With Maharashtra grappling with severe drought, a local organisation has successfully completed a water conservation project in Osmanabad's Paranda tehsil which has now become a part of Shiv Sena's 'Shiv Jal Kranti' Scheme.

Osmanabad in Marathwada region is reeling under severe water crisis with dams Terna, Sina Kolegaon left with no water.

The project was undertaken by local organisation, Tanaji Sawant Pratisthan took under which the six rivers that pass through Paranda were deepened, small canals connecting to rivers were cleaned among other works. It was carried across 85 kms.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray visited Osmanabad yesterday included the project under its Shiv Jal Kranti scheme and dedicated it the people at a program in Bhandgaon village.
 

Thackeray told reporters that they plan to execute similar water conservation projects in other districts of the state.

"We have made a five year action plan of water conservation in our district to mitigate drought. We plan to plant one crore big trees with the help People," Tanaji Sawant told PTI.
