Delhi Congress leaders today said they would gherao the residences of the seven BJP MPs in the national capital unless the crisis in the power and water supply situation in the city was resolved soon.

Expressing their stand in a press statement, DPCC chief Arvinder Singh also said that all Delhi BJP and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, too, will be "gheraoed in their homes" in case there was no improvement in the status of power and water supply.

"They (DPCC chief and Congress leaders) said if the situation was not brought under control in Delhi quickly, all the BJP MPs from Delhi and BJP and AAP MLAs will be gheraoed in their homes. They said that the condition of Delhi was getting worse than that of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

"They said that people were now being reminded of the BJP rule from 1993 to 1998 when they used to roam the streets at nights, waiting for power to come," said the statement issued on behalf of DPCC.

Congress leaders Haroon Yusuf and Mukesh Sharma said they will meet the chief secretary tomorrow to "warn the administration about solving the power and water problems".

Expressing concern over the situation, Delhi Congress said that, "If the situation does not improve in the next 24 hours, the common people of Delhi would also come out on the streets in protest."

It is for the first time in 15 years that people are not even able to purchase power and water, the statement added.
