The Udupi Deputy Commissioner Muddu Mohan has directed tahsildars of all three taluks in the district to visit areas that are facing drinking water crisis and submit a comprehensive report.
The decision was taken at a state-level meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Parishad officials on Natural Calamity Management held near Manipal in Dakshina Kannada District on April 26.
He said the district administration has taken steps to supply tanker water to 30 panchayats in the district and there was no issue in supply of drinking water in city limits. The scheme might be extended to another 10 to 13 villages in the event of shortage in rainfall, he said.
